March 19, 2010

I have been contacted today by Lisa Rebak at Frank PR to give a shout out to families who might be interested in a free day out at Roewood Farm in Newark.

Taste a Slice of Farm Life

Hovis Farmer opens his doors on 21st March 2010

As part of its move to 100% British Wheat, Hovis has launched a Slice of Farm Life, an initiative aimed at giving people a chance to learn more about the journey from field to loaf.  The initiative launches on Sunday 21st March when farmer, Dean Broadberry, will be opening up his farm in Winkburn, Newark to those who want to learn more about farm life and where food, particularly bread, comes from.

Dean is one of over 100 farmers in Britain growing premium red wheat exclusively for the baker.  The 21st March offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the countryside and discover first hand what it means to be a farmer.  The day will include talks, a farmyard tour and trailer rides.

Date: 21st March 2010

Time: 10am-4pm (last entry 3.30pm)

Location: Roewood Farm, Winkburn, Newark. Notts.  NG22 8PG.

Numbers are limited so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

A Slice of Farm Life is a campaign launched by Hovis to mark its switch to flour milled from 100% British Wheat.  Hovis is the first major bread brand in mainland Britain to make this move.  612 farms across the UK now grow wheat for Hovis, a move that has brought £18mn back into the British farming economy.
